exciting march

What an amazing way this month has started… my good friend and fab artist Amanda Hiller has been featured in Period Living magazine. Amanda’s work is so lovely and when I first heard about the news of this article, I didn’t realise the scale of it… Amazing!! Getting my copy tomorrow!!

But the other exciting thing about this article is that some of my photos are featured in it as well 😀 So happy! Its a great way of showing off our continuous cooperation.

Here are a few photos I took of Amanda, her work and her studio.

Le Tour de France

I’m not into football nor tennis… I kind of like watching swimming (weird, I know)… but ever since I was a kid coming home from school I remember watching the Tour de France (not the highlights, the whole lot… fair enough, I did fall asleep a few times too).

And specially since being friends with a cyclist fella’ I kind of got more into it. My embarrassing admission is that since I started cycling to work I developed this weird fetishistic fascination with Lycras (not MAMILs – Middle Aged Men In Lycra), yeah I call them Lycras now, all the cyclists in their serious looking gear on a cool road bike. Every time I see one I unconsciously change gear and before I know it I am trying to catch them up and race them, even though I’m only a girl wearing skirt and tights on a vintage hybrid with a basket on the front. It might be a subconscious thing that I want to be like them… I don’t know.

So anyway, I’m writing this post because I am heart broken, as the Tour is here in the UK and I can’t go and see them… gutted. I’ve been cheering Chris Froome for two years now, and how cool it would have been to see them swoosh past on the road… Anyone, who is out there, in Leeds, or Sheffield or gona be in London, well I hope you’ll enjoy it, wave them on for me, and just to let you know, I’m super jealous of you all 🙂

And just to make sure we have a bit of craft in this post too (after all this is supposed to be a craft blog), here are my latest finds on Etsy and elsewhere, that I am seriously considering saving up for

il_570xN.405040425_9f9mI mean riding at night doesn’t get much cooled then this… yeah, I know I’m just a hopeless cycling romantic 🙂

I want to be that panther… 🙂 and i like the colour of the T-Shirt too.

Now I like this little idea, so simple and I would be so grateful sometimes if I had one on my bike.

Now some other useful or cool stuff, like patchnride 🙂 though I’m not sure what you’d do with it, if you can’t find the puncture on your tyre.

And then there is this… I really like helmets like this, but I’ve been told that I’ll look like a weird golf ball. I’ll let you know as soon as I got one 🙂

Thanks for visiting and let the Tour begin!!!

beads and wire

After being ill for so long with the nastiest sinus infection, it feels great and liberating to create nice things again.

Ever since I discovered tiger tail wire for my self I am hooked onto making necklaces with it.
Specially these simple types with crimp beads and combining various glass beads. Simple, elegant, quirky… I like 🙂

The yellow one is already available in my shop

Hope spring is gona come soon and it will bring some sunshine 🙂

Busy preparing :)

I’m not really a fan of this heavy/pressurised ad- and marketing campaign that just started as a runner up for Christmas and it is hardly the second week of November.

But I had to join in… well, to some extent. Spending every free minute to prepare for Craft Fairs… hoping that Christmas will not be coming from the super-market but from some lovely local Christmas Fairs 🙂 with some hand-made gifts 😀

29th of November, Christmas Craft Fair and Swish in Telford

2nd of December, Christmas craft Fair at Apley

So far I made some necklaces using glass beads and tiger tail wire

some earrings with glass beads

and got to stay cosy for winter, here are some scarfs

Also there will be some bags, T-cosy to follow, with other niceness 🙂

I really enjoy making and finally using all the impulsively found little treasures like unique beads, materials, yarns, buttons, cards etc. But I also had fun making the tags, with which I am pleased with (my head is like hot-air balloon now :-p ).

At the moment these items are not available from my shop because the jewellery is only silver plated, not silver (trying to keep costs down for customers) but if anything is to your fancy or got an idea and would like me to make it for you, that is not a problem, just let me know!

Let me know what you think, whether I have any chance this Christmas :)?
And if you are in the neighborhood, then come and say hi to me and Janine, who’s work will be just next to mine 🙂 !

Beautiful commission…

… for Maggie!  xxx

I made it out of up-cycled, lovely patterned, corduroy (as in an old skirt) up on request, and I am very pleased how nice it looks 🙂

Do hope it’s owner will enjoy using it and appearing with it as much as I enjoyed making it!!

getting friendly with the plastic :)

Easter has been (luckily) a very busy period, loads of work and also loads of crafting and experimenting have been done 🙂

Last year we had a fab day out in Yorkshire, Harrogate to the Knit and Stitch show and amongst all the lovely things we have spent successfully money on, me and Maggie bought some friendly plastic. On the way back we made a huge list of what we have to do with all the inspiration, ideas and materials gained on the show.

Well, couple of months later we managed to get round to have a few hours of experimenting… really enjoyed creating in a different way then what I am used to so far.

Ok, if you are not familiar with friendly plastic so far, basically this is a type of plastic that has a colored foil on top and by heating it you can shape it and mould it to your desire. A really lovely way of creating.

Maggie created the earrings – love the clean style! And she made the big green-flower bead, which inspired me to make the pink flower on the white back ground. Also we experimented with stamping onto the plastic – I am quite pleased with the result actually.

As you can see we are pretty at the beginning of working with friendly plastic but all these pretty things in various shape will be on display and for sale at the Damson Day fair. So if you are about come and see us 🙂

I’ll be back soon with my new bags and other creations…

Until then show and tell what you have been up to during Easter!

Take care
